🎯 Role Overview

ATP’s client, an integrated renewable-energy services organisation, seeks a Junior Accountant to support multiple group companies in routine bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role requires strong ownership, process discipline, and comfort handling high-volume, repetitive tasks, while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping for accounts payable/receivable, transaction posting, and accounting record maintenance.

• Prepare payment batches for Director review and execution.

• Maintain vendor and supplier documentation, verify statements, and follow up on outstanding invoices or quotations.

• Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial data.

• Communicate with client stakeholders, responding to requests and clarifying financial information.

• Support the monthly close process via journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and variance analysis.

• Prepare financial reporting packages in collaboration with the Director for timely and accurate reporting.

• Support additional finance functions such as payroll processing or tax compliance as needed.

• Contribute to process improvements and documentation updates across portfolio company finance functions.

🎓 Requirements

📚 Education & Qualifications

• Minimum BCom degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Honours preferred).

• Recently qualified CA(SA) may be considered depending on budget alignment.

• Solid understanding of IFRS fundamentals and core accounting principles.

💻 Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Xero (bookkeeping, ledger management, invoicing, quotations).

• Strong Excel skills: pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data validation, basic data cleaning, reconciliations.

• Experience managing books for multiple entities advantageous but not mandatory.

🧩 Other Skills

• High attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency in repetitive tasks.

• Excellent communication skills for interacting with stakeholders across group companies.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage parallel workstreams independently.

• Comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision.

💼 Experience

• 3+ years of accounting experience preferred.

• Exposure to energy or sustainability sectors is beneficial but not required.

💡 Working Arrangement

• Remote with occasional travel to Eastern Cape for site visits if required.

• South African residents only.
