Job Overview

The Bakers Assistant will support the Baker in preparing, baking, and finishing bakery products according to strict recipe specifications and merchandising standards.

This role requires attention to detail, high energy levels, and a passion for baking and customer service.


Key Responsibilities

πŸ₯– Product Preparation

  • Follow ingredient selection and methods strictly according to the recipe manual.

  • Execute recipes using correct metric measurements.

πŸ›’ Merchandising

  • Follow bakery merchandising flow.

  • Keep product categories together and ensure visually appealing displays.

😊 Customer Service

  • Provide customers with undivided attention.

  • Respond to queries and escalate when necessary.

  • Promote sales to achieve department budgets.

🧼 Hygiene & Housekeeping

  • Maintain clean-as-you-go practices.

  • Deep clean post-production to prevent contamination.

  • Ensure equipment is clean and in good working condition.

  • Follow Health & Safety procedures when operating bakery equipment.

  • Analyse daily sales, customer orders, and wastage.

  • Assist in drafting daily production plans.


Qualifications

  • Matric (Grade 12).

πŸ’Ό Experience

  • Bakery or retail experience advantageous.

  • Must reside close to the store.
