Job Overview

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective Quality Management System (QMS) at the Brits manufacturing plant.

The role involves implementing and monitoring ISO 9001 and ISO TS/16949 quality standards, coordinating internal and external audits, managing quality documentation, and ensuring compliance with OEM and organizational requirements. The successful candidate will also support quality training initiatives and continuous improvement programs within the plant.


Key Responsibilities

Quality Management Systems

  • Establish, implement, and maintain an effective Quality Management System (QMS).

  • Compile and maintain quality documentation aligned with ISO 9001, ISO TS/16949, and OEM standards.

  • Ensure Bridgestone standards and processes are implemented throughout the plant.

  • Maintain centralized document control systems and intranet quality documentation.

Quality Administration

  • Manage QS documentation and OEM compliance records.

  • Ensure effective record retention and documentation systems.

  • Monitor updates and changes to ISO, OEM, and regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate certification processes, documentation, and administrative tasks.

Audits & Compliance

  • Plan and conduct process, product, and system audits.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO and OEM audit standards.

  • Represent the Quality Systems department during external audits.

  • Conduct vendor audits and support laboratory audit processes.

Training & Quality Awareness

  • Train and mentor new QS auditors.

  • Identify training needs and develop quality training materials.

  • Conduct QS induction training for employees.

  • Promote quality awareness across the organization.

APQP & Product Approval

  • Manage APQP and PPAP processes for OEM customers.

  • Compile OEM documentation for new product approvals.

  • Monitor OEM system requirements and quality performance indicators.

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze audit findings and implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Address production issues, customer complaints, and quality risks.

  • Support management reviews and quality improvement initiatives.

Safety, Health & Environment

  • Chair departmental safety meetings.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards.

  • Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions.

  • Oversee safety inspections and compliance with SHE procedures.


Qualifications

Education

  • Diploma in Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

  • Qualified ISO 9001 / ISO TS Auditor preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Quality Engineering or Quality Systems management.

  • Experience with OEM APQP processes, QS administration, and training.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS).

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO TS/16949 standards.

  • Experience in quality audits, documentation, and compliance management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage quality improvement initiatives and training programs.
