Job Overview

The Compliance Officer will support the legal and regulatory compliance function within the organisation. This role involves working closely with the Compliance team to ensure adherence to financial regulations, monitor risks, and maintain effective compliance controls.

The position requires a proactive individual who can manage compliance processes, support regulatory reporting, and contribute to maintaining a strong compliance culture within the business.


Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and implement compliance monitoring programmes
  • Track and resolve non-compliance issues across business units
  • Ensure adherence to regulations such as FAIS, FICA, POPIA, and CISCA
  • Maintain compliance registers (PEPs, complaints, breaches, conflicts)
  • Prepare and deliver compliance training to staff
  • Assist with regulatory reporting and submissions
  • Support Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies and controls
  • Conduct customer due diligence and risk assessments
  • Monitor data protection and regulatory compliance
  • Engage with regulators and support audits or investigations
  • Assist in developing and improving compliance procedures

Qualifications

Education

  • Degree in Law, Compliance, Risk Management, or related field

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a compliance role
  • Experience within financial services is essential
  • FSCA FAIS approval (Category I) is advantageous

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of South African financial regulations
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
