Job Overview
The Legal Internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience within an in-house legal department of a leading e-commerce company.
As a Legal Intern, you will support the legal team with administrative, documentation, and operational tasks, ensuring efficient management of legal processes. You will gain exposure to contract management, compliance, corporate governance, and legal operations.
This role is ideal for individuals pursuing a career in legal administration, corporate law support, or compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Administrative Support
- Provide administrative support to the legal team and leadership
- Manage calendars, meetings, and correspondence
- Coordinate internal and external meetings and logistics
- Handle emails, calls, and communication for the legal department
Document Management & Administration
- Draft, format, and proofread legal documents and presentations
- Maintain filing systems for contracts and legal documentation
- Manage contract lifecycle records (renewals, expiries, execution)
- Ensure proper storage and confidentiality of documents
Contract & Matter Management
- Assist with contract tracking and administration
- Maintain legal matter management systems
- Coordinate contract execution and approvals
- Liaise with external attorneys and service providers
Legal Department Operations
- Process invoices and manage supplier relationships
- Support onboarding of new legal team members
- Maintain office supplies and administrative processes
Compliance & Reporting Support
- Assist with compliance tracking and reporting
- Prepare reports and presentations for management
- Maintain registers for legal and governance documentation
- Support legal research and corporate governance activities
General Support
- Provide general administrative assistance
- Assist with ad hoc legal projects and tasks
- Support training coordination and materials preparation
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
Qualifications
Education
- Matric / Grade 12 Certificate
- Currently pursuing or recently completed N6 in:
- Legal Secretary
- Office Administration
Experience
- No formal experience required (internship level)
- Exposure to legal or administrative environments is advantageous
Skills
- Advanced document formatting and presentation skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Knowledge of legal terminology and document types
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
