Job Overview
Faircape Health is seeking an experienced and compassionate Locum Registered Nurse to support operations across its Somerset West facilities.
This role involves leading nursing shifts, overseeing patient care, and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining clinical excellence and delivering patient-centred care within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties:
- Develop and implement individualised patient care plans
- Review and update care plans based on patient needs
- Ensure compliance with care plans and clinical protocols
- Conduct high-risk assessments and maintain accurate documentation
- Administer medication safely and manage medication storage
- Implement infection control protocols where required
- Manage stock levels and medical supplies
Emergency & Incident Management:
- Respond to emergencies in line with established procedures
- Coordinate with emergency services when necessary
- Act in accordance with patient directives during critical situations
- Report incidents and communicate with families and the multidisciplinary team
Qualifications
Education:
- Registered Nurse qualification with SANC registration
- Basic Life Support certification (advantageous)
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Shift Leader or Duty Sister
- Experience in similar healthcare environments
- Knowledge of dementia, frail care, and palliative care (advantageous)
Skills:
- Strong clinical and patient care expertise
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to manage and lead nursing teams
- Time management and organisational skills
- Adaptability in a fast-paced healthcare environment
