Job Overview

Pepkor Lifestyle is looking for a reliable and experienced Courier Operations Supervisor to oversee daily courier operations in Cape Town. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient delivery performance, route optimisation, fleet safety, team supervision, and customer service excellence.

The successful candidate will supervise couriers, drivers, dispatch teams, and delivery workflows while ensuring KPIs, safety standards, and customer satisfaction targets are consistently met.

This role is ideal for candidates with logistics, transport, or courier supervisory experience.

Key Responsibilities

Shift Operations Management

Supervise daily courier and delivery activities
Ensure smooth and timely deliveries
Monitor deliveries through tracking systems
Optimise delivery routes for efficiency
Resolve delays, route changes, and emergencies
Manage stock flow into and out of outbound cages
Coordinate with warehouse and inbound teams
Allocate trucks, drivers, and delivery routes
Manage pick-ups, returns, and re-deliveries
Resolve urgent delivery and collection queries

Team Supervision

Assign workloads across courier teams
Conduct pre-shift briefings
Support and guide couriers during shifts
Manage attendance and shift scheduling
Coach and train staff
Conduct performance evaluations

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

Track courier KPIs and performance metrics
Prepare operational reports for management
Monitor delivery times and customer satisfaction
Escalate recurring operational issues
Drive process improvements and cost efficiency

Compliance & Safety

Ensure compliance with OHSA and safety procedures
Monitor fleet maintenance and vehicle checks
Attend quarterly health and safety meetings
Enforce access control and restricted-area compliance
Maintain safe working conditions

Customer Service

Act as first point of contact for delivery complaints
Resolve customer issues professionally
Ensure couriers provide courteous service
Manage customer expectations
Promote customer-centric culture

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Diploma / equivalent qualification
Additional qualification in logistics or management is advantageous

Experience

Proven supervisory experience in:
- courier services
- logistics
- transport
- supply chain
Knowledge of Cape Town routes and local geography
Experience with logistics systems and tracking software
