Job Overview
Ogilvy South Africa is seeking a motivated Junior Financial Accountant to join its Head Office Finance Team. This role is ideal for an aspiring finance professional looking to gain hands-on experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and accounting operations.
The successful candidate will support month-end processes, assist with financial reporting, and contribute to maintaining accurate financial records across multiple entities.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close:
- Prepare and post journal entries for assigned entities
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with monthly management accounts and reporting submissions
- Ensure timely completion of month-end processes
Financial Accounting Support:
- Assist with bank reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments
- Process purchase orders and maintain financial records
- Support the Financial Accountant with daily accounting functions
Company Secretarial Support:
- Assist with preparation and filing of company documents
- Maintain statutory records and registers
- Submit required compliance documentation
Trust Accounting:
- Process accounting entries for trust accounts
- Reconcile trust balances and prepare reports
General Duties:
- Provide administrative support to the finance team
- Assist with ad hoc finance projects and reporting tasks
Qualifications
Education:
- Grade 12 with Accounting
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Finance (advantageous)
Experience:
- Previous experience in a junior accounting role (advantageous)
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking
