Job Overview

AECOM is seeking a skilled Civil Engineer – General Civils to join its Centurion team. This role is ideal for an experienced civil engineering professional with strong infrastructure design expertise and hands-on knowledge of civil design software.

The successful candidate will contribute to multidisciplinary projects involving roads, stormwater systems, sewer infrastructure, water reticulation, and earthworks platforms. You will be involved in both concept and detailed design work while supporting project delivery within budget and schedule requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform specific technical portions of larger civil engineering assignments
• Gather, analyse, and correlate engineering data
• Prepare routine and detailed engineering calculations
• Assist in solving technical design challenges
• Identify discrepancies in project outputs and design documentation
• Support and guide junior and entry-level engineers
• Participate in client meetings and technical discussions
• Design civil infrastructure elements including:
  • roads
  • stormwater systems
  • sewer lines
  • water networks
  • earthworks platforms
• Compile schedules of quantities
• Prepare tender documentation and cost estimates
• Produce technical reports and presentations
• Conduct quality assurance on drawings and engineering reports
• Assist with site supervision where required
• Ensure project work aligns with budget and timelines

Qualifications

Education

• BSc Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
• Registered as a Candidate Engineer with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)

Experience

• Minimum 4+ years of post-qualification experience
• Experience in civil infrastructure and multidisciplinary engineering projects
• Previous site supervisory experience is advantageous

Skills

• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Working knowledge of ProjectWise
• Experience with Autodesk BIM 360
• Advantageous:
  • 12d Model
  • OpenRoads Designer
  • MicroStation
  • Dynamo for Civil 3D
• Knowledge of SANS and COTO standards
• Strong report writing and presentation skills
• Strong quantity calculations and cost estimation ability
