Job Overview

Seaboard Overseas is seeking experienced Financial Controllers and Financial Directors for future opportunities across its affiliate operations in Francophone Africa.

These senior-level roles are responsible for overseeing the full finance function, including financial planning, budgeting, reporting, treasury, accounting systems, compliance, and risk management. Successful candidates will work closely with executive leadership to align financial strategy with business objectives and ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of financial strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Provide strategic recommendations and financial guidance to the Managing Director and executive leadership team.
  • Coordinate financial, accounting, and management control functions with operational teams.
  • Direct and manage all financial reporting activities while ensuring strict reporting deadlines are met.
  • Work with the Division Finance team to prepare and issue financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and improvement of accounting systems and internal controls.
  • Complete Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and compliance requirements for Seaboard Corporation.
  • Assist with treasury management, cash flow planning, and execution of treasury directives.
  • Ensure proper tax compliance and financial governance.
  • Manage both internal and external audit processes.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts.
  • Conduct regular meetings with operational personnel to identify financial and risk issues that may affect company assets.
  • Supervise and manage finance, administration, and reporting staff.
  • Support business growth and financial sustainability through sound financial leadership.

Qualifications

Education

  • Professional qualification such as:
    • US CPA
    • CA(SA)
    • Equivalent Chartered Accounting qualification

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ accounting or financial management experience.
  • Proven experience reporting financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Previous experience in a Financial Controller, Financial Director, or similar senior finance leadership role.
  • Big 4 audit experience is preferred.
  • Experience with foreign exchange and treasury management is advantageous.
  • Experience working for a multinational company, preferably in Francophone Africa.

Language Requirements

  • Must be fluent in both French and English.

  • Strong financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
  • Deep understanding of accounting systems, internal controls, and risk management.
  • Strong leadership and people management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Relocation Requirements

  • Candidates must be willing to relocate to a developing country in Francophone Africa.
  • Flexibility to work across different African affiliate locations is essential.
