Job Overview

The City of Johannesburg is offering an Executive Director’s Office Internship within the Human Settlements Department. This 18-month programme provides graduates with exposure to administrative, research, and strategic support functions within a government environment.

Interns will contribute to business management operations, including planning, reporting, monitoring, and supporting service delivery initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Business Management Directorate.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of Human Settlements programmes.
  • Support data capturing, filing, and document management.
  • Assist with research, reporting, and analysis tasks.
  • Contribute to business plans, quarterly reports, and strategic documents.
  • Support event coordination, logistics, and communication activities.
  • Assist with marketing materials and social media content.
  • Provide customer service and respond to stakeholder queries.

Qualifications

Education

  • Grade 12 (Matric Certificate).
  • National Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 6 or 7) in:
    • Business Management
    • Business Administration
    • Journalism or Media Studies
    • Public Administration or Public Management
    • or related fields

Experience

  • No prior work experience required.

Skills

  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Good communication (verbal and written).
  • Analytical and research capabilities.

  • Computer literacy (MS Office, especially Excel).
