Job Overview

Exxaro is seeking a qualified Occupational Health Nurse to support employee health and wellness at its Grootegeluk Coal operations. The role focuses on occupational health management, preventative care, and compliance with health regulations in a mining environment.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing workplace health risks, conducting medical assessments, and implementing health promotion programmes, including TB and HIV management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct employee health assessments and maintain accurate medical records
• Develop and implement occupational health and wellness programmes
• Manage TB, HIV, and chronic disease programmes and education
• Monitor exposure to occupational hazards and support health surveillance
• Collaborate with medical teams to manage workplace incidents and emergencies
• Ensure compliance with occupational health legislation and company policies
• Manage medical supplies and ensure availability of clinic resources
• Investigate and report health and safety incidents
• Support continuous improvement of occupational health services
• Promote employee awareness of health and safety practices

Qualifications

Education

• Diploma in Nursing (Essential)
• Diploma in Occupational Health (Essential)

Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Occupational Health Nursing
• Experience in TB/HIV training and management

Skills

• Strong knowledge of occupational health regulations and compliance
• Health risk assessment and surveillance expertise
• Clinical and emergency response skills
• Record keeping and data management
• Communication and employee engagement skills
• Ability to manage health programmes and initiatives

Additional Requirements

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• Registration with the South African Occupational Health Society
• Membership with the SA Society for Occupational Health Nurses
• Valid Dispensing License
• Certificate of Fitness (conducted by Exxaro)
• Psychometric Assessment (conducted by Exxaro)
