Job Overview

Feltex is seeking an experienced Cost and Management Accountant to join its Pinetown-based finance team. This role is responsible for delivering accurate costing, financial analysis, and reporting to support business profitability and operational decision-making.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining costing systems, analysing production efficiencies, and supporting pricing strategies to retain and grow business.

Key Responsibilities

Costing & Bill of Materials (BOM)

• Manage and maintain costing systems to ensure accuracy
• Review cost requests and standard cost updates
• Analyse cost variances and margin impacts
• Validate costing against production processes
• Conduct material usage analysis and implement corrective actions
• Analyse labour and overhead recoveries vs actual spend

Financial & Operational Analysis

• Perform scrap, consumables, and PPV analysis
• Monitor pricing structures and manage overrides
• Analyse stock adjustments and inventory variances
• Support cost analysis for customer pricing negotiations

ERP & MRP Management

• Maintain accurate routing and costing allocations in ERP systems
• Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to optimise MRP processes

Management Reporting

• Prepare monthly management accounts packs
• Conduct margin and profitability analysis
• Report on slow-moving and obsolete stock
• Develop manufacturing performance reports (labour, machine efficiency)
• Provide insights to improve operational efficiency

Qualifications

Education

• National Diploma or Bachelor of Commerce in Cost and Management Accounting
• CIMA, CA(SA), or equivalent qualification

Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
• Proven experience in manufacturing finance and costing environments

Skills

• Strong cost accounting and financial analysis expertise
• Advanced Excel and ERP system proficiency
• Knowledge of BOM, MRP, and production costing
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
