Job Overview

Optix Africa is seeking a highly detail-oriented and technically strong Financial Accountant to join its Finance team in Benoni, Gauteng. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing core accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, compliance, and month-end accounting activities across several entities within the Optix Group.

The role supports entities including InstallerNet SA, Optix Europe, and SingRisk, while also contributing to the financial accounting requirements of the Australian business operations. Reporting directly to the Group Financial Manager, the Financial Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting statutory compliance, and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting across the group structure.

This position is ideal for finance professionals who enjoy technical accounting, reconciliations, ERP systems, and working within a multi-entity or international finance environment.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Maintain the general ledger and execute monthly accounting processes
  • Prepare and post accruals, prepayments, provisions, and journal entries
  • Ensure accurate month-end and year-end financial close procedures
  • Support preparation of management accounts and consolidated reporting
  • Assist with board packs and financial reporting submissions

Reconciliations & Compliance

  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations including:
    • Bank reconciliations
    • Intercompany reconciliations
    • Control account reconciliations
  • Ensure accounting records comply with IFRS standards
  • Support VAT submissions and tax compliance processes
  • Assist with statutory reporting and Companies Act compliance

Audit & Governance

  • Prepare audit working papers and supporting documentation
  • Liaise with external auditors during audit cycles
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting schedules
  • Support internal controls and financial governance frameworks

ERP Systems & Process Improvement

  • Operate and maintain financial information within NetSuite ERP
  • Extract and analyse financial data for reporting purposes
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within finance operations
  • Contribute to systems optimisation and reporting enhancements

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Support supplier reconciliations and payment processes
  • Monitor customer ageing and receivables reporting
  • Assist with intercompany accounting transactions
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and related schedules

Minimum Requirements

Education

πŸŽ“ Matric / Grade 12 Certificate
πŸŽ“ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Essential)

Advantageous Qualifications

  • SAICA Articles / CA(SA)
  • CIMA
  • ACCA
  • SAIPA (PA(SA))
  • Postgraduate qualification in Finance, Accounting, or Taxation

Experience Requirements

βœ” Minimum 4–6 years’ experience in a Financial Accounting role
βœ” Experience with full month-end close processes
βœ” Strong general ledger and reconciliation experience
βœ” Experience with VAT and tax compliance
βœ” Exposure to audit preparation and external auditors
βœ” ERP system experience essential (NetSuite preferred)
βœ” Multi-entity or group accounting experience advantageous
βœ” International accounting exposure advantageous
