Job Overview

Spec-Savers is seeking an Intermediate Software Developer to join its IT and Software Development team in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications that support business operations.

This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, scalable software solutions. The position is ideal for a developer with hands-on experience in full-cycle software development and a passion for building reliable and efficient systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software solutions based on business requirements
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using relevant programming languages and frameworks
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to clarify requirements
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards
  • Debug and resolve software defects and system issues
  • Conduct software testing to ensure functionality, performance, and reliability
  • Maintain technical documentation for all development projects

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Advanced Diploma in a relevant IT discipline may also be considered

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Software Developer
  • Experience working on full software development lifecycle projects
  • Exposure to coding, testing, and deployment processes
  • Experience working in collaborative development environments
