Job Overview

Mediclinic Paarl is seeking a Professional Nurse to join its multidisciplinary healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering safe, comprehensive, and high-quality nursing care in line with professional nursing scope of practice.

This role involves coordinating patient care, supporting nursing teams, and ensuring patient safety and positive clinical outcomes. The position is ideal for a compassionate and skilled nurse who is committed to excellence in patient care and professional development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using scientific nursing principles
  • Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records and documentation
  • Administer and monitor medication according to clinical protocols
  • Ensure proper use and management of medical stock and equipment
  • Promote infection prevention and control standards within the unit
  • Create a positive and supportive environment for patients and families
  • Coordinate and support nursing team activities for optimal care delivery
  • Facilitate learning and development opportunities for nursing staff
  • Ensure compliance with nursing legislation and hospital policies
  • Provide patient assessments and clinical observations as required

Qualifications

Education

  • Diploma in Nursing leading to registration as a General Nurse OR
  • 4-year Nursing Diploma OR Bachelor of Nursing
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (advantageous for specialist units)
  • Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery (advantageous)

Experience

  • No prior experience required (entry-level professional nurse role)
  • Clinical exposure during training will be advantageous

Skills

  • Basic Life Support certification (ACLS / ATLS / PALS advantageous depending on unit)
  • Strong patient assessment and clinical care skills
  • Knowledge of nursing processes and procedures
  • Understanding of infection prevention and control practices
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
  • Knowledge of pharmacology and medication administration
  • Familiarity with nursing legislation and ethical standards
  • Risk identification and patient safety awareness
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
