Job Overview

Mediclinic Bloemfontein is seeking a Professional Nurse – Medical to join its multidisciplinary healthcare team. The role involves delivering safe, comprehensive, and high-quality nursing care in line with professional nursing standards and scope of practice.

The successful candidate will coordinate patient care, support nursing teams, and ensure optimal clinical outcomes in a medical ward environment. This role is ideal for a dedicated nurse who is passionate about patient safety, clinical excellence, and teamwork.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care effectively
  • Identify, prevent, and manage clinical risks to ensure patient safety
  • Maintain accurate and complete nursing records and documentation
  • Administer and monitor patient treatment according to protocols
  • Ensure proper use and management of medical stock and equipment
  • Promote infection prevention and control standards at all times
  • Create a positive and supportive environment for patients and families
  • Coordinate and support nursing staff to ensure efficient care delivery
  • Contribute to staff development and learning within the unit
  • Ensure compliance with nursing legislation and hospital policies
  • Perform patient assessments and clinical observations as required

Qualifications

Education

  • Diploma in Nursing leading to registration as a General Nurse OR
  • 4-year Nursing Diploma OR Bachelor of Nursing
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (advantageous for specialist areas)
  • Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery (advantageous)

Experience

  • No minimum experience required
  • Clinical training exposure will be advantageous

Skills

  • Basic Life Support certification (ACLS / ATLS / PALS advantageous depending on unit)
  • Strong patient assessment and clinical care skills
  • Knowledge of nursing processes and procedures
  • Infection prevention and control expertise
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
  • Understanding of pharmacology and medication administration
  • Knowledge of nursing legislation and ethical practice
  • Risk identification and patient safety awareness
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
