Are you passionate about coastal processes, marine infrastructure, and sustainable engineering? Hatch is seeking a Junior Coastal Engineer to join its dynamic Ports and Terminals team based in Cape Town. You’ll work on diverse and innovative projects across dredging, port design, coastal adaptation, and metocean inputs — shaping infrastructure that serves communities globally.

🔧 Responsibilities

• Collaborate on coastal structure designs, metocean assessments, dredging, and adaptation planning

• Conduct technical analyses and prepare engineering reports

• Participate in site visits and client meetings

• Coordinate with geotechnical and civil engineering teams

• Contribute to innovative and sustainable coastal infrastructure solutions

• Support proposal development and project delivery

🎓 Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or relevant discipline)

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Ports and Coastal Engineering

• Strong communication (written and verbal) and problem-solving skills

• Eagerness to collaborate in a team environment and think innovatively

• Commitment to professional growth and staying updated on coastal engineering trends

✅ Preferred Skills & Attributes

• Master’s in Ports and/or Coastal Engineering

• Knowledge of international marine and coastal engineering codes

• Experience in dredging or coastal adaptation planning
