Role Overview

Eduvos is seeking an Academic Content Writer specialising in Graphic Design to join the Academic Development (Content) Department. This role is ideal for a creative academic professional with strong design knowledge, pedagogical capability, and proven experience developing learning materials for higher education students.

This fixed-term, full-time position will require the successful candidate to write, develop, review, and enhance academic content within the broader Humanities and Graphic Design subject area. You will collaborate closely with academic experts, faculty teams, and quality assurance partners to ensure that all materials meet Eduvos quality and compliance standards.

Key Purpose of the Role

The Academic Content Writer supports Eduvos’ mission by producing high-quality academic content that aligns with institutional standards, industry relevance, and student learning needs. This includes:

  • Developing study materials and assessments.

  • Ensuring content quality through moderation processes.

  • Updating and refreshing modules as required.

  • Collaborating with the Humanities faculty to maintain curriculum relevance.

  • Uploading and managing content on the institution’s Learning Management System (LMS).


Minimum Qualifications

  • BA Honours in Graphic Design with specialisations in communication design, social media design, and typography.

  • MA qualification advantageous.

  • A background in fine arts or digital arts may be considered if accompanied by the required specialisations.


Minimum Experience Requirements

  • At least 3 years’ lecturing or academic content development experience in Higher Education.

  • Experience creating interactive learning materials on a recognised LMS (Moodle preferred).

  • Strong understanding of NQF levels and assessment creation.

  • Academic publishing experience will be an advantage.

  • Practical design capabilities, especially in branding, packaging, social media design, layout, and typography.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new learning material (study guides, assessments, multimedia components).

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and contribute to communities of practice.

  • Adhere to Eduvos development guidelines and programme specifications.

  • Ensure alignment with Eduvos brand and academic standards.

  • Participate in moderation, quality assurance, and copy-editing processes.

  • Upload and release approved content onto the LMS.

  • Review, revise, and update existing modules and assessments.

  • Resolve content-related queries.

  • Assist with ingesting module content as required.


Technical & Functional Competencies

  • Strong academic writing and content structuring skills.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office.

  • Strong understanding of Graphic Design theoretical and practical principles.

  • Ability to work confidently on Moodle or similar LMS platforms.

  • Ability to design or set up module pages and structure learning journeys.
