🌱 Programme Overview – Accelerate Orientation
The Accelerate Orientation Management Trainee Programme is a youth development initiative designed to prepare young South Africans for long-term careers in hospitality management or professional cookery.
The Orientation phase lasts one year and serves as a foundational exposure period, allowing candidates to gain hands-on experience in hotel operations while evaluating their suitability and passion for the hospitality industry. Successful completion of the Orientation year allows candidates to apply for the 3-year Accelerate In-Service Trainee Programme, although acceptance is not guaranteed and is subject to formal application and assessment.
This programme focuses on practical workplace learning, supported by structured guidance, mentoring, and exposure to Marriott’s service culture.
🧑💼 Job Summary
During the Orientation year, Hospitality Management Trainees rotate through all major hotel departments, while Professional Cookery Trainees gain experience across different kitchen sections. This rotational exposure provides a comprehensive understanding of hotel operations, service delivery, and guest experience management.
Trainees are expected to uphold Marriott International’s professional standards, policies, and service values while contributing positively to daily hotel operations and guest satisfaction.

🎓 Candidate Profile – Education & Eligibility
Minimum Requirements

South African citizen by birth
-
Aged 18–22 years (must not turn older than 22 in the year of application)

Matric (Grade 12) certificate or equivalent NQF/NCV Level 4 qualification
-
All 7 Matric subjects passed (preferably 50% or higher)
-
Minimum 1 year of practical hotel working experience
-
No post-Matric, NQF Level 4, or NCV Level 4 qualifications
Candidates who do not meet Matric result thresholds may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
