Company Overview:
McCain Foods, a global leader in the food industry, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant for a 6-month fixed-term contract. In this role, you’ll manage financial reporting, tax compliance, and fixed asset management while ensuring accurate and timely delivery of key financial information.

Key Responsibilities:

✔ Fixed Asset Management

  • Oversee and maintain the Fixed Asset Register (FAR)

  • Perform annual verification and review useful life estimates

  • Handle asset scrapping, project evaluations, and documentation reviews

  • Distribute and review reports related to fixed assets

✔ Financial & SG&A Reporting

  • Compile and maintain SG&A reports and other financial management documents

  • Conduct cost reviews and provide analysis on cost deviations

  • Assist with the annual AOC compilation and monthly LE compilation

  • Investigate financial deviations and offer corrective actions

✔ Tax Compliance & Reporting

  • Prepare income and provisional tax returns in compliance with local regulations

  • Maintain tax asset register and reconcile it with FAR

  • Collaborate with the global tax department and auditors to prepare and submit tax packs

  • Handle quarterly tax pack submissions and resolve SARS queries

✔ General Financial Administration

  • Verify banking details for new and updated suppliers

  • Assist with the annual audit process

  • Analyze financial reports including income statements and balance sheets

  • Complete quarterly and annual Statistics Survey Reports

✔ Ad-Hoc Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports

  • Maintain and improve standard operating procedures

Job Holder Requirements:

✔ Qualifications:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Proven experience in financial reporting, tax compliance, and fixed asset management

✔ Skills & Experience:

  • Familiarity with SARS tax compliance, including tax pack preparation and provisional tax returns

  • Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of cost controls and financial reporting

  • Experience with SAP financial systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
