Job Description:

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision and Processing:
    • Initiate and supervise processing of client information, receipts, sales invoices, and purchase invoices.
    • Perform bank reconciliations.
    • Process and reconcile Petty Cash and cash control accounts.
    • Maintain a fixed asset register.
  2. Journal Entries and Reconciliations:
    • Post general journals including depreciation, provisions, interest, salaries, and stock.
    • Process journal entries for new instalment sale agreements, interest on borrowings, provisions, accruals, and bad debts.
    • Reconcile debtors’ and creditors’ statements.
  3. Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare draft financial statements.
    • Compile notes to financial statements.
    • Analyze trial balance for errors and deviations; discuss results with clients.
    • Perform analytical review of financial statements including GP%, Inventory days, Creditors days, and Debtors days.
  4. Taxation and Compliance:
    • Calculate tax liability for sole proprietors, individuals, close corporations, trusts, small business corporations, and partnerships.
    • Reconcile input/output VAT to monthly trial balance.
  5. Client Management and Communication:
    • Request information from clients as needed.
    • Assist with provisional tax calculations.
    • Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication.
    • Demonstrate strong management, leadership, and organizational skills.
    • Manage own workload and client portfolio independently.
  6. Additional Responsibilities:
    • Meet monthly deadlines promptly.
    • Possess thorough knowledge of Payroll, VAT, and e-filing processes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum five years of accounting experience with a good understanding of accounting principles.
  • A degree in accounting would be advantageous.
  • Completion of SAICA/SAIPA articles preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy required.
  • Valid driver’s license and own transport.
  • CV must include contactable references.
