💼 About the Role: Accountant
As an Accountant at Abbott, you will become part of a dynamic Corporate Finance Services (CFS) team based at the Roodepoort Offices in Johannesburg. This role is vital to maintaining the financial integrity and regulatory compliance of Abbott South Africa’s business operations.
This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and deadline-driven finance professional who is passionate about healthcare, numbers, and high-impact work.
🧾 Key Responsibilities

Oversee and execute month-end accounting activities and ensure timely financial closing.

Prepare and submit periodic financial reports to global headquarters.

Perform monthly inventory reports, including PPV, GIT, and inventory reserves.

Handle monthly revenue analysis and reporting.
-
Evaluate and manage customer cash allocations and held orders.
-
Reconcile accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve variances in a timely manner.

Monitor and update customer credit limits in line with Abbott’s global credit policy.

Collaborate with commercial divisions as a finance business partner.

Maintain and update relevant Basic Operating Procedures (BOPs).

Prepare audit reports and support internal and external audits.

Uphold strong internal financial controls and ensure compliance with policies.

Manage inventory accounting, credit risk, and standard costing as applicable.
📚 Minimum Requirements
-
Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
-
Registered or eligible to register as a Chartered Accountant [CA(SA)].

Experience in financial accounting and debtors management.

Proficiency in Excel and advanced spreadsheets.

Sound understanding of accounting principles, including IFRS 9, inventory, and revenue recognition.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
