The Commercial/Sales Finance division plays a strategic role in supporting profitability, pricing, compliance, and financial performance across the business.

Job Overview

Clover is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Accountant to join its Commercial/Sales Finance team in Roodepoort. The successful candidate will take ownership of financial accounting, reconciliations, reporting, compliance, and month-end processes.

This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, the ability to meet strict deadlines, and confidence in working independently while collaborating with operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

💰 Financial Control & Reconciliations

Control and reconcile Driver accounts and cash.
Reconcile General Ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
Reconcile branch cash flows (deposit slips, receipts, bank statements).
Ensure invoices are matched with authorised purchase orders and GRNs.

📊 Month-End Close & Accounting

Review and approve purchase orders with correct GL allocations.
Process supplier payments (operating and overhead costs).
Upload and allocate bank transactions to the cashbook.
Prepare and post journals (VAT, accruals, provisions, prepayments, intercompany).
Complete balance sheet reconciliations in line with internal controls.

📈 Management Reporting & Analysis

Prepare monthly variance analysis with explanations.
Compile management reporting packs.
Conduct profitability analysis to support pricing and decision-making.

🧾 Tax & Compliance

Calculate and submit VAT accurately and on time.
Prepare VAT schedules and statutory documentation.
Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

🎓 Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
SAIPA or SAICA articles (Advantageous).

💼 Experience

Hands-on experience with month-end close and reconciliations.
Experience in management reporting and VAT processing.
Practical exposure to financial compliance and internal controls.

Strong understanding of accounting principles.
Advanced Excel skills.
Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
High integrity and attention to detail.
