About the Role

IoDSA is searching for a meticulous and dependable Accountant who will play a crucial part in upholding the organisation’s financial accuracy and professional reputation. This role focuses strongly on cashbook processing, Debtors management, and ensuring that financial records are handled with precision, confidentiality, and timeliness.

As part of the Finance team, you will serve as an internal support pillar, helping departments function seamlessly while maintaining a high level of financial governance. Your accuracy and reliability will directly influence the organisation’s financial integrity and overall corporate image.


Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for maintaining financial operations with a strong focus on completeness, accuracy, and professional delivery. Core duties include:

Cashbook, Payments & Bank Functions

  • Daily processing of the cashbook on Pastel Evolution

  • Monthly preparation of bank reconciliations

  • Loading new recipients and payments on the banking platform

  • Clearing unallocated funds weekly

  • Analysing and reconciling unallocated amounts

  • Processing Pay-U (online credit card merchant) reconciliations

Debtors Management

  • Preparing and analysing the Debtors Age Analysis

  • Regular follow-ups with Debtors regarding outstanding accounts

  • Liaising with departments regarding Debtors queries

  • Ensuring accuracy and up-to-date customer information

Month-End & Reporting

  • Capturing month-end journals on Pastel Evolution

  • Reviewing and updating supplier invoices

  • Maintaining accurate financial documentation and filing

  • Supporting the year-end external audit and interim internal audit

  • Assisting with additional workload during peak finance periods

Cross-Department Support

  • Responding to finance-related queries from internal teams

  • Ensuring excellent service when dealing with members, clients, and staff

  • Supporting adoption of new processes and organisational changes


Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Qualifications

  • BCom Accounting or a similar accounting qualification

Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an accounting role

  • Proven Debtors collection experience

  • Intermediate Pastel Evolution proficiency

  • Intermediate Excel and strong Microsoft Office Suite skills

Technical Competencies

  • Strong record-keeping abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • High accuracy and accountability

  • Ability to provide professional and responsive customer service
