💼 Job Purpose

The Accountant: Farming will ensure financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and compliance across all agricultural operations. You will support the end-to-end financial management of farming activities, including inventory tracking, asset management, accounts payable/receivable, lease oversight, and detailed reporting. By providing insightful financial analysis and driving process improvement, you will contribute to the strategic and commercial success of COFCO’s Farming division.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

📌 Inventory Management – Track, value, and report on farming consumables accurately.
📌 Accounts Payable – Manage supplier payments and ensure full compliance.
📌 Asset Management – Maintain the fixed asset register and oversee asset lifecycle.
📌 IFRS 16 Lease Management – Ensure proper compliance and accurate reporting.
📌 Commodity Basis File – Prepare and maintain accurate basis files.
📌 Month-End Close & Reporting – Deliver reconciled, accurate financial data.
📌 Internal Controls & Compliance – Maintain robust governance and audit readiness.
📌 Process Optimisation & Automation – Drive efficiency through digital solutions.
📌 Risk Management – Monitor and mitigate financial risks affecting operations.

🎓 Minimum Requirements

• Education: Matric senior certificate (essential)

• Tertiary Qualification: Degree in Accounting (SAICA or CIMA articles preferred)

• Experience: Minimum 1 year in a commercial accounting role

• Skills: Intermediate MS Excel proficiency

• Languages: Fluent in Afrikaans and English
