🎓 JOB OVERVIEW

The Department of Accounting invites applications for a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor to contribute to high-quality teaching, postgraduate supervision, and scholarly research. The role involves lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervising research students, participating in academic administration, and producing accredited research outputs in alignment with the University’s research and teaching mission.


🧩 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lecture Accounting at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level

  • Supervise postgraduate students (Master’s and Doctoral levels)

  • Conduct and publish scientific research in accredited journals

  • Participate in academic administration and departmental management

  • Contribute to academic citizenship and professional engagement


🎓 QUALIFICATIONS

Senior Lecturer

  • Registration with a relevant professional body (ACCA, CFA, CIMA, IIA, or SAICA)

  • Master’s degree in Accounting with a research component or a Doctoral degree

  • At least 2 accredited publications or recognised scholarly outputs

  • Supervision of at least 2 completed Master’s students or involvement in PhD supervision

  • Minimum of 3 years’ tertiary teaching or relevant industry experience

  • Evidence of professional engagement

Associate Professor

  • Doctoral degree in Accounting

  • Registration with a relevant professional body (ACCA, CFA, CIMA, IIA, or SAICA)

  • 3–5 years’ tertiary teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level

  • At least 5 accredited publications with a quality-adjusted publication score of 10

  • Minimum of 4 completed Master’s students in the last 5 years

  • Involvement in at least 1 Doctoral supervision as main or co-supervisor

  • Evidence of sustained academic citizenship and professional engagement

  • In-depth knowledge of Accounting theories and principles

  • Ability to manage teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities
