🧾 JOB OVERVIEW

The Admin Clerk – Data Capturer will ensure accurate patient data entry, specimen management, and administrative support for the Central Region laboratory. The role requires precision, adherence to SOPs, and strong interpersonal skills to manage patient interactions, reception duties, and support the laboratory team.


📝 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Capture patient information and medical aid details accurately from doctor forms

  • Register patient data into computerized systems according to SOPs

  • Dispatch specimens for processing and monitor progress, ensuring timely delivery

  • Perform hospital rounds to distribute reports and collect samples

  • Handle administrative queries, customer complaints, and ensure timely resolutions

  • Track courier deliveries and resolve any pre-analytical bottlenecks

  • Maintain reception area, provide information, and deliver excellent customer service

  • Handle cash receipts and banking in compliance with SOPs

  • Scan and store specimens electronically for easy retrieval

  • Perform basic maintenance of lab equipment and ensure waste removal policies are followed

  • Support own and new staff training and maintain accurate training records

  • Ensure personal adherence to Lancet uniform and operational protocols


🎓 QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4

Experience

  • 0–1 year relevant administrative or data capturing experience

Skills & Attributes

  • Accurate typing and data entry skills

  • Strong administration and organizational abilities

  • Attention to detail and adherence to procedures

  • Customer-focused with empathy and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to handle nervous/distressed patients

  • Team player with resilience and flexibility

  • Business numeracy and confidentiality awareness
