📝 Role Overview

This entry-level role provides essential administrative, clerical, and office support to ensure smooth operations within the department. You will assist with data capturing, record keeping, document control, procurement administration, and staff support. This role is ideal for young people starting out in the public service.


🛠️ Key Responsibilities

📄 General Administration

  • Record, organise, store, and retrieve documents and data.

  • Update registers, logs, and daily statistics.

  • Assist with photocopying, scanning, and sending emails/faxes.

  • Distribute documents to internal and external stakeholders.

📁 Filing & Records

  • Maintain the component’s filing system.

  • Manage incoming and outgoing documents.

  • Draft minutes when required.

📦 Supply Chain Support

  • Request quotations and complete procurement forms.

  • Assist with stock control and inventory of office supplies.

  • Maintain the asset register of the unit.

👥 Personnel Administration

  • Update attendance registers and leave records.

  • Assist with travel and accommodation arrangements.

  • Maintain staff records and administrative files.


🎓 Minimum Requirements

📘 Qualifications

  • Grade 12 / Matric

  • No experience required

💡 Knowledge & Skills

  • Understanding of Public Service legislation

  • Clerical and administrative procedures

  • Computer literacy (MS Office)

  • Good communication (written & verbal)

  • Planning & organisational skills

  • Interpersonal skills and teamwork
