Role Overview: Administrator
eThekwini Municipality is seeking an Administrator for the Revenue Department in the Customer Services Centres branch. As an Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive customer care and revenue collection services. You will ensure compliance with municipal regulations, improve customer satisfaction, and help maintain efficient service delivery, in line with the Municipalityโs standards.

Key Responsibilities
๐ Customer Service & Revenue Collection
- Expedite the processing of Metro Revenue Bill accounts and provide detailed customer service information to ensure smooth customer relationships.
- Handle all escalated customer contacts, ensuring customer issues are resolved promptly and professionally.
- Provide updates on service access, usage, and payment processes for municipal services, ensuring customers are well-informed.
- Implement and support service excellence initiatives within the Service Centre to enhance the customer experience.
๐ก Compliance & Process Management
- Supervise staff to ensure compliance with established procedures, rules, and regulations related to customer care and revenue collection activities.
- Ensure adherence to security measures for cash-in-transit processes and take appropriate action when necessary.
- Investigate compliance with relevant guidelines, policies, and regulations and recommend improvements where needed.
๐ Administrative & Financial Support
- Expedite the administrative processes for customer registration and account transfers.
- Authorize requests for refunds (e.g., deposits) and ensure that customers receive timely and accurate payments.
- Continuously monitor and analyze data to ensure efficient processing and timely completion of tasks.
๐ Team Leadership & Development
- Lead by example and maintain high standards of service delivery.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to junior staff, ensuring they adhere to performance standards and enhance their skills.

Qualifications & Experience
๐ Essential Requirements
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) with Mathematics or Accounting or an equivalent qualification.
- A certificate in the financial field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in an administrative or customer service role.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, financial systems, etc.).
๐ Preferred Requirements
- Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Accounting or a related field.
- 4 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
