AFGRI Farmer Development is calling on passionate and dedicated South African students to apply for the 2025 Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme. This incredible opportunity is designed to provide final-year agricultural students with practical, on-the-job experience to bridge the gap between academic study and the working world.

Vastfontein Farm, Pretoria North, Gauteng, South Africa

About the Programme:
The AFGRI Work Integrated Learning Programme is a 12-month fixed-term internship contract aimed at equipping students with valuable practical skills in a real-world farming environment. As part of this programme, you’ll be working in a dynamic, cross-functional team and contributing to impactful projects that align with AFGRI’s mission of developing the next generation of agricultural professionals.

Fields of Study:
Students enrolled in the following qualifications are welcome to apply:

• National Diploma: Agriculture (Crop Production)

• National Diploma: Agriculture (Animal Production)

• National Diploma: Agriculture (Irrigation Systems)

Minimum Requirements:

• South African citizen under 35 years of age

• Currently enrolled in your final year of one of the qualifying agricultural diplomas (2025)

• WIL must be a compulsory requirement of your qualification (academic record & institutional WIL letter must be attached)

• No more than one year of full-time work experience in the field

• Must reside in the city of hire

• Strong academic performance is advantageous

Key Responsibilities:

• Work within a cross-functional team on a WIL project as assigned by your Line Manager

• Gain practical, on-the-job farming experience relevant to your field of study

• Collaborate on team-based projects and contribute to additional tasks aligned with AFGRI’s business goals

Duration:
12 months (Fixed-Term Internship Contract)
