The Agricultural Research Council (ARC), a leading scientific institution in South Africa, is offering two exciting Agricultural Internship opportunities for 2025 at its Infruitec-Nietvoorbij campus in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.
This internship is funded by the National Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD), offering graduates a unique opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in the dynamic fields of deciduous fruit, vines, and wine research.
About the Internship:
The ARC internship programme is designed for graduates who are eager to deepen their expertise in agricultural research. Successful candidates will work alongside experienced researchers and contribute to innovative projects that support South Africa’s agricultural development.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in research projects and daily operational tasks under supervision.

Support fieldwork, including data collection and experimental trials—sometimes requiring extended hours.

Supervise temporary workers when necessary.

Collect, capture, and evaluate research data with accuracy.

Provide diagnostic and research support services as required.

Participate in the planting and maintenance of glasshouse and field trials.
-
Adhere to health, safety, and risk management procedures at all times.

Deliver regular progress updates to supervisors and contribute to research reporting.
Minimum Requirements:

National Diploma in Agriculture (Crop Science, Soil Science, or Agronomy specialization preferred).

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Valid driver’s license (essential).

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Physical fitness and willingness to engage in manual fieldwork.

Previous experience in research field trials will be a distinct advantage.

Enthusiastic attitude and commitment to learning in a research environment.
