As an Ambulance Emergency Assistant at ER24, you will be responsible for attending to emergency calls and providing intermediate medical care in accordance with your scope of practice. You will be a key member of the emergency medical team, ensuring operational readiness and maintaining the high standard of patient care ER24 is known for.


Key Responsibilities:

Respond to emergency calls promptly and efficiently.
Provide patient care in line with the scope of practice and clinical guidelines.
Ensure operational readiness, maintaining all equipment and vehicles in top condition.
Maintain a positive public image for ER24 by providing compassionate, professional care.
Complete and maintain accurate Patient Report Forms (PRFs) and other documentation as required.
Collaborate with fellow team members to ensure smooth operational procedures and patient care delivery.


Required Education and Experience:

🔑 Essential Education:

  • Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate or a Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care.

🔑 Desired Education:

  • Completion of Clinical Practice Guidelines training published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
  • If not compliant with the clinical practice guidelines at the time of application, you will be required to complete this training during your probation period if successful.

🔑 Essential Experience:

  • At least 1 year of EMS experience in a fast-paced, emergency medical environment.

🔑 Desired Experience:

  • 1 year of ILS (Intermediate Life Support) experience is advantageous.

💻 Computer Literate: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications for record-keeping and communication.
📍 Knowledge of Local Area: Familiarity with local facilities, travel routes, and demographics to optimize response times.
📝 HPCSA Guidelines: Strong understanding and adherence to Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) guidelines and your professional scope of practice.
📑 Proficiency in English: Strong written and verbal communication skills to ensure clear and accurate documentation and communication with patients and teams.
