Nova Pioneer is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Foundation Phase Apprentice Teacher for our Paulshof campus in Gauteng, South Africa. This is a unique opportunity for aspiring educators in their 3rd or 4th year of their BEd qualification—or completing their PGCE in 2025—to kickstart their teaching career in an environment dedicated to nurturing the next generation of innovators and leaders.

Role Overview

As a Foundation Phase Apprentice Teacher, you will work closely with your Resident Teacher to:

  • Deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons for Junior Primary grades.
  • Infuse passion and joy into your classroom to inspire student learning.
  • Collaborate on setting ambitious academic goals and assessing student progress.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and reflective practices.
  • Engage with parents and contribute to co-curricular activities.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Instruction & Support

  • ✔️ Engaging Lesson Delivery:
    Support Resident Teachers in delivering dynamic, inquiry-based lessons enhanced with technology.
  • ✔️ Student Assessment:
    Collaborate in ongoing assessment of student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • ✔️ Goal Setting & Feedback:
    Help set rigorous academic goals and provide constructive feedback to inspire student excellence.

Professional Development & Collaboration

  • ✔️ Team Collaboration:
    Actively participate in weekly feedback meetings, professional development sessions, and team reflections.
  • ✔️ Continuous Improvement:
    Embrace coaching and feedback to refine teaching practices and innovate in your classroom.
  • ✔️ Parental Communication:
    Engage with parents through conferences, emails, and phone calls to support student development.

Co-Curricular & Community Engagement

  • ✔️ Co-Curricular Involvement:
    Contribute to at least one co-curricular activity per term to enrich the overall student experience.
  • ✔️ School Community:
    Participate in various committees and collaborative teams to drive the school’s mission forward.

About You

Skills and Qualifications

  • 🎓 Education:
    Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (BEd) – entering your 3rd or 4th year—or completing your PGCE in 2025.
  • 📜 Registration:
    Provisionally SACE registered.
  • 📚 Specialization:
    Focus on the Foundation Phase.
  • 🔢 Curriculum Knowledge:
    Experience or understanding in teaching English and Mathematics; familiarity with Singapore Maths and THRASS (English) is a plus.
  • 🌍 Additional Advantage:
    Exposure to Cambridge curriculum objectives will be beneficial.
