๐Ÿ“Œ Overview

The University of Pretoria (UP) invites dynamic, experienced, and qualified individuals to apply for the position of Assistant Director: Student Administration within the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences. This role is a pivotal leadership position responsible for managing and enhancing the end-to-end student administrative experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

๐Ÿ’ผ Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic oversight of the Student Administration Division, including operations, HR, and budget.

  • Full management of all undergraduate and postgraduate administration processes (applications, registration, exams, results, graduations).

  • Coordination of student orientation programmes.

  • Drive and maintain efficient and student-centered service delivery.

  • Serve as secretariat for Faculty Board meetings and other faculty committees.

  • Compile and manage the Facultyโ€™s yearbook and Programme Qualification Mix (PQM).

  • Oversee the exclusion, appeal, and readmission processes.

  • Ensure implementation of decisions from the Teaching and Learning Committee.

  • Maintain quality assurance of all student administration workflows.


๐ŸŽ“ Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelorโ€™s or BTech degree (relevant field).

  • 5+ yearsโ€™ experience in student administration within higher education.

  • In-depth knowledge of undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes.

  • Management experience, including HR and budgeting.


๐Ÿง  Required Competencies

  • Proven leadership in academic/student administration.

  • Familiarity with university policies, academic regulations, and accreditation standards.

  • Experience in formal meeting management, stakeholder relations, and team performance.

  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of electronic student databases (e.g., PeopleSoft Student Centre).

  • Ability to handle stress and manage high-pressure situations effectively.

  • A commitment to confidentiality, fairness, and ethical leadership.
