Job Purpose:
As an Assistant Manager, HR at IRD, you will be pivotal in supporting the full spectrum of HR functions, including payroll processing, recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and performance management. This role will also require you to ensure the effective implementation of HR policies while fostering a positive, inclusive, and dynamic workplace culture in accordance with South African labor laws.

Key Responsibilities:
HR Operations:

  • Oversee payroll processing, benefits administration, and HR compliance with South African labor laws.

  • Maintain accurate HR records and implement periodic audits to enhance operational efficiency.

Recruitment & Onboarding:

  • Manage the full recruitment cycle, from posting job ads to issuing employment contracts.

  • Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring smooth transitions for new hires and exiting employees.

Performance Management:

  • Administer performance management systems, ensuring effective appraisals, evaluations, and identification of training needs.

  • Support employee development through training and guidance on career progression.

Employee Relations & Welfare:

  • Foster a fair and equitable work environment by addressing grievances and implementing disciplinary actions when necessary.

  • Promote employee welfare through engagement strategies and conflict resolution.

HR Strategy & Policy Implementation:

  • Ensure the consistent application of HR policies in alignment with organizational goals and legal standards.

  • Provide HR data analysis and contribute to strategic HR planning to improve operations and employee retention.

Global HR Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with global affiliates to adapt HR policies across regions, ensuring consistency in approach and compliance.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
🎓 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

💼 Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a business partner capacity.

  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector is a distinct advantage.

🔧 Skills:

  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.

  • Proficient in HR systems, data analysis, and reporting.

  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement HR strategies that drive organizational success.
