Your Role as an Assistant Service Technician:

As an Assistant Service Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the Service Technicians with essential tasks related to crane and hoist maintenance, inspections, repairs, and installations. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that requires a strong technical aptitude, a focus on safety, and the ability to provide top-tier service to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

🔧 Assist with Crane Inspections & Maintenance:

• Support the performance of inspections and maintenance on cranes and hoists at various customer sites.
• Perform general post-repair audits to ensure all safety features are fully functional or report deficiencies with deficiency tags.

📝 Documentation & Reporting:

• Provide detailed documentation of findings, making corrective recommendations to customers.
• Create and share “Safety Notifications” when safety concerns are observed, and ensure all reports are professional, accurate, and legible.
• Generate sales leads and identify areas for potential sales during service calls.

💼 Customer Communication & Support:

• Consult with customers about repair and safety issues, offering practical advice and solutions.
• Provide quotations and assist with the implementation of safety features and material handling improvements.

🚗 Equipment & Safety Compliance:

• Maintain company-issued tools, equipment, and vehicles in top condition.
• Ensure all operations follow safety guidelines, including customer-specific safety protocols and relevant OHS Acts and Regulations.

🔄 Continuous Improvement:

• Participate in health and safety programs to help improve workplace safety.
• Support the team by performing other duties as needed.

Skills & Knowledge:

• Technical Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year of hands-on technical work experience.
• Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Electrical Trade: Having an electrical trade qualification is an advantage.

Qualifications & Education:

• Minimum: Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
• Desirable: Electrical trade qualification or relevant technical experience.
