Position: Associate Director – Hydropower
📍 Location: Cape Town – Century City, WC or Tshwane – Pretoria, GP, ZA
🕒 Contract Type: Permanent (Employee)
⏰ Work Schedule: Full Time
Role Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic Associate Director – Hydropower to take charge of hydropower and dam projects across Sub-Saharan Africa. In this role, you will be responsible for leading hydropower designs, conducting feasibility studies, and collaborating across business units within Zutari to deliver innovative solutions that improve efficiency and impact.
The successful candidate will bring expertise in hydropower and dam designs, and be a strong advocate for digital innovation in engineering. You will also manage key projects, ensuring the successful integration of designs from concept to execution.
Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Lead Hydropower Projects – Oversee design, prefeasibility studies, and detailed designs for hydropower projects.
✔️ Review Designs and Costing – Analyze hydropower and dam designs and provide cost assessments.
✔️ Energy Yield Calculations – Evaluate and validate hydropower energy yield calculations.
✔️ Business Development – Drive business growth within the hydropower sector and expand Zutari’s market presence.
✔️ Digital Innovation – Lead the integration of digital tools and innovations to improve project delivery in the hydropower sector.
✔️ Project Management – Ensure successful management of hydropower and dam projects, from inception through to completion.
✔️ Collaboration – Work alongside other business units to implement and deliver hydropower and dam solutions effectively.
✔️ Client & Site Travel – Travel to project sites and client locations throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: MSc (preferred), BSc, MEng, or BEng in Civil Engineering.
- Experience: At least 7 years of experience in Hydropower Engineering.
- Professional Registration: Must be a registered Professional Engineer (PrEng) with ECSA.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities at all organizational levels.
