🏫 About the Role

The Department of Curriculum Studies at Stellenbosch University is seeking a qualified and passionate Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer in English First and Second Language Education. This role provides an opportunity to influence teacher education and curriculum research in one of South Africa’s leading faculties of education. ✨ Key Responsibilities

• Teach English Home Language and First Additional Language in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

• Develop, evaluate, and improve teaching and learning materials for English language education.

• Contribute to practical teaching assessments and opportunities.

• Conduct academic research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.

• Supervise and co-supervise postgraduate students (Honours, Master’s, Doctoral).

• Identify and apply for research funding opportunities.

• Engage in social impact projects and contribute to the teaching community.

• Participate in academic administration and leadership within the Department and Faculty.

🎓 Job Requirements

• A PhD in English literature, applied linguistics, or related field.

• A relevant teaching qualification.

• Experience teaching English in higher education contexts.

• Experience supervising postgraduate students (Honours, Master’s, PhD).

• A strong academic and publication record, including international collaborations.

• Participation in peer-reviewed national/international education conferences.

• Recent peer-reviewed publications in English language education.

✅ Recommendations / Strongly Preferred

• A current NRF rating (especially for Associate Professor level).

• Knowledge of South African education policies.

• Experience with technology-aided language education.
