π JOB OVERVIEW
The Department of Nursing and Midwifery invites applications for an Associate Professor to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research leadership, and social impact initiatives. The role involves curriculum development, supervision of postgraduate research, securing research funding, and providing academic leadership within the department. The successful candidate will support programme quality assurance, internationalisation efforts, and the mentoring of junior academics.
π§© KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach, assess, and coordinate undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes

Contribute to curriculum development, review, and programme enhancement

Supervise masterβs and doctoral students

Conduct independent research and publish scholarly outputs

Lead and contribute to departmental research strategy

Secure external and internal research funding
-
Participate in national and international conferences, committees, and projects

Contribute to social impact and community engagement initiatives
-
Mentor and coach junior academic staff
-
Participate in academic administration and quality assurance processes
π QUALIFICATIONS
Education
-
PhD in Nursing (NQF Level 10)
Professional Registration
-
Registered with SANC as:
-
Professional Nurse and Midwife
-
Nurse Educator
-
Assessor and Moderator
-
Experience
-
Minimum of 4 yearsβ teaching experience in undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes
-
At least 5 yearsβ recent clinical and/or professional nursing experience
-
Proven postgraduate supervision at masterβs and doctoral level
Research & Leadership
-
Strong publication record (minimum 15β20 peer-reviewed articles)

Evidence of securing research funding
-
Experience as an external examiner for postgraduate research
-
Participation in national and international academic structures
-
Demonstrated leadership capability
