About the Role

Reporting directly to the Head Pastry Chef, the Baker will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality bakery items while ensuring consistent standards of presentation, taste, and quality. This role involves managing stock rotation, food cost control, kitchen hygiene, and supervising junior staff in a fast-paced 5-star hotel environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, bake, and present a variety of bakery items and artisan bread for daily service and special functions.

  • Maintain consistent food quality, presentation, preparation, and portion control standards.

  • Train, mentor, and supervise junior staff, ensuring adherence to operational procedures.

  • Plan daily operations, forecast demand, and manage time effectively to meet service requirements.

  • Manage inventory, monitor stock rotation, and control food cost and wastage.

  • Ensure compliance with kitchen hygiene, food safety, and SOP standards.

  • Communicate effectively with kitchen and service staff, ensuring smooth handovers and coordination.

  • Perform additional duties as requested to support the kitchen team and hotel operations.


Requirements

  • Recognized culinary qualification with at least 3 years of experience in a similar bakery or pastry operation.

  • Prior experience in a 5-star hotel or luxury hospitality environment is highly recommended.

  • Strong knowledge of bakery products, artisan bread, and culinary techniques.

  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain high-quality standards consistently.

  • Team-oriented, proactive, self-driven, and able to work with limited supervision.

  • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.

  • Commitment to high standards of hygiene, safety, and operational controls.
