Key Responsibilities

In this critical role, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing routine blood bank testing including compatibility checks, post-natal testing, and preliminary transfusion reaction investigations.

  • Verifying results performed by Registered Blood Bank Technicians, Trainee Technicians, and Student Technologists.

  • Ensuring all activities comply with quality, safety, and operational standards.

  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and instruments to support ongoing technical excellence.

  • Delivering professional customer and stakeholder service in a regulated clinical environment.


Job Requirements

Qualifications & Registration

  • HPCSA Registration as a Medical Technologist (Blood Transfusion) is mandatory.

  • Must meet HPCSA’s experience requirements for registration as a Medical Technologist in Blood Transfusion.

Special Job Conditions

  • Must be willing to work overtime, night shifts, and weekends as per the roster.

  • Occasional local and national travel may be required.

  • Must have proficient eyesight and not be colour blind.

  • Must be physically healthy with reasonable mobility and endurance.
