Key Responsibilities
In this critical role, you will be responsible for:

Performing routine blood bank testing including compatibility checks, post-natal testing, and preliminary transfusion reaction investigations.

Verifying results performed by Registered Blood Bank Technicians, Trainee Technicians, and Student Technologists.

Ensuring all activities comply with quality, safety, and operational standards.

Maintaining laboratory equipment and instruments to support ongoing technical excellence.

Delivering professional customer and stakeholder service in a regulated clinical environment.
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Registration
-
HPCSA Registration as a Medical Technologist (Blood Transfusion) is mandatory.
-
Must meet HPCSA’s experience requirements for registration as a Medical Technologist in Blood Transfusion.
Special Job Conditions
-
Must be willing to work overtime, night shifts, and weekends as per the roster.

Occasional local and national travel may be required.
-
Must have proficient eyesight and not be colour blind.
-
Must be physically healthy with reasonable mobility and endurance.
