McCain Foods is seeking a Boiler Operator 1 to join our Springs team. Key Responsibilities:
As a Boiler Operator 1, you will play a crucial role in maintaining optimal performance for all boiler systems. Your primary responsibilities include:
1. Boiler Operation:
- 🔧 Operate and monitor steam and hot water boilers to ensure efficient operation.
- ⚙️ Adjust settings to maintain proper pressure, temperature, and water levels.
- 📝 Record operational data, including fuel consumption, pressure, and temperature.
- 🕹️ Start, stop, and regulate boilers, feed pumps, and related equipment.
2. Maintenance & Inspections:
- 🛠️ Perform regular maintenance and inspections of boilers, pumps, valves, and related components.
- 🧹 Clean, lubricate, and replace parts as needed.
- 🔍 Inspect components such as burners, gauges, and pressure relief valves for wear and functionality.
- 📅 Assist with preventative maintenance routines and schedule tasks.
3. Troubleshooting & Repairs:
- ⚡ Diagnose and resolve issues related to boiler operations, controls, and auxiliary systems.
- 🚨 Respond to boiler malfunctions and alarms quickly and efficiently.
- 🔧 Repair or replace faulty components under the supervision of maintenance supervisors.
4. Safety & Compliance:
- ⚖️ Ensure boiler operations adhere to safety standards, industry codes, and environmental regulations.
- 🛡️ Maintain a safe work environment by following all company safety procedures.
- 📝 Test safety valves and other systems to ensure proper functionality.
5. Documentation & Reporting:
- 📚 Maintain accurate records of boiler operations, maintenance activities, and safety checks.
- 📊 Report any irregularities to the supervisor or facility manager.
- 📑 Assist in preparing reports related to boiler performance and maintenance activities.
6. Collaboration:
- 🤝 Work closely with other maintenance and operations teams to ensure smooth facility operations.
- 🎓 Assist in training and mentoring junior operators or new staff members as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Education & Certifications:
- 🎓 Grade 12 or equivalent required.
- 🔥 Certification as a Boiler Operator (coal-fired).
Experience:
- 🛠️ Proven experience as a Boiler Operator or in a related maintenance role.
- 🕒 At least 4 years of experience in boiler operation.
Skills & Knowledge:
- 🔧 Strong understanding of boiler systems and steam generation.
- 📋 Familiar with boiler safety regulations and industry standards.
- 🛠️ Basic troubleshooting and mechanical repair skills.
- 🔍 Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Physical Requirements:
- 💪 Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
- 🌡️ Ability to work in extreme temperatures, heights, and physically demanding conditions.
