The City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality invites suitably qualified and motivated candidates to apply for the TLMA-B-2026 Boilermaking Apprenticeship Programme, hosted at the Tshwane Leadership and Management Academy (TLMA) in Pretoria West.
This programme forms part of the municipality’s broader skills development and artisan training strategy aimed at addressing scarce technical skills while empowering unemployed youth with industry-relevant qualifications.
About the Apprenticeship Programme
Through its Learning and Development Division, the City of Tshwane is an accredited training provider offering structured apprenticeship programmes that combine classroom-based theory with intensive work-integrated learning.
The Boilermaking Apprenticeship is designed to prepare learners for a successful career as qualified artisans by providing practical exposure, technical instruction, and workplace discipline required in demanding industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities and Learning Areas

Participate in theoretical and practical boilermaking training

Perform metal fabrication, welding, cutting, shaping, and assembly tasks

Learn interpretation of technical drawings and specifications

Apply occupational health and safety standards in workshop environments

Use tools, machinery, and equipment according to trade requirements

Complete logbooks, assessments, and training records as prescribed

Demonstrate professionalism, discipline, and commitment throughout the programme
Minimum Requirements

Technical Matric, NCV Level 4, or N2 Certificate

Mathematics and Physical Science passed

Relevant trade theory related to boilermaking

Strong interest in becoming a qualified artisan

Willingness to commit fully to the duration of the apprenticeship

Dedication, enthusiasm, and physical ability suited to the trade

Stipend Information
