Bookkeeper (Hybrid) – Sybrin (Cape Town / Johannesburg)

About the Role
As a Bookkeeper at Sybrin, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the finance team with transactions, reconciliations, and reporting. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a hybrid environment.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain and update accurate financial records, including purchases, expenses, payments, journals, and ledger allocations.

Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, investigating and clearing variances to ensure accuracy.

Assist with financial analysis by preparing variance, profitability, and other financial reports.

Prepare and maintain month-end reports, including trial balances and supporting schedules.

Keep detailed records of company assets.

Conduct intercompany reconciliations for alignment across group entities.

Calculate and record accruals such as commissions, supplier expenses, and other costs.

Process invoices and manage supplier bill payments, ensuring timely and accurate entries.

Prepare and post journals with appropriate documentation.

Manage VAT submissions and e-filing to ensure compliance with tax regulations.

Support audits by providing necessary documentation and assistance.

Perform cash flow management for relevant companies.

Manage financial documentation efficiently.

Support ad hoc finance and administrative tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications and Experience

Matric certificate.

Diploma or certificate in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or related fields.

2-3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a group or multinational environment.

Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.

Proficiency in ERP accounting software.

Advanced Excel and MS Office skills.

Experience handling foreign exchange transactions and withholding tax is advantageous.

Suitable home environment for hybrid working (minimum two days/month in office).
