About the Role

As a Business Engineer at Capitec, you will play a key role in aligning business process architecture and requirements with the bank’s strategic objectives. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Business Process Architecture & Requirements: Provide business process architecture at an enterprise level for various Capitec business units, focusing on supporting new revenue growth initiatives.
  • Driving Continuous Improvement: Work on post-implementation projects to drive continuous improvement, track business benefits, and operationalize the changes.
  • Project Management: Develop change management plans, project plans, and design policies, procedures, and performance measures to ensure successful project execution.
  • System Development: Translate business needs into IT system requirements, assisting in the development or procurement of IT solutions.
  • Support Strategic Goals: Ensure business process improvements and initiatives are aligned with Capitec’s corporate strategies and objectives.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise-wide, complex business design, development, and process improvement within an organization.
  • Hands-on experience with Six Sigma, Lean, TOC, Business Improvement, and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience in translating corporate strategies into initiatives and projects aimed at driving performance and growth.
  • Proven ability to initiate and implement revenue growth initiatives and continuous improvement capabilities.

Skills:

  • Business Process Modelling skills (IDEF-0, BPMN, Enterprise Architect, Financial Modelling, etc.).
  • Strong project management and change management skills.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate strategy into actionable initiatives.
  • Communication and presentation skills for interacting with senior stakeholders.
  • Client experience / client journey mapping expertise.
  • Financial and process simulation modeling skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational.

Ideal/Preferred:

  • Post-graduate qualification in Information Technology or Engineering (or similar).

Key Competencies

Leadership: Ability to lead and manage complex projects, collaborating across departments.
Problem Solving: Able to identify areas for improvement and deliver impactful solutions.
Project Management: Familiar with the Project Management Lifecycle, including methodologies like Agile and Lean.
Commercial Thinking: Ability to view processes through a commercial lens and understand their impact on the organization’s bottom line.
