🌟 Role Overview

As the Cardiac Clinical Technologist Intern, you will be exposed to the full clinical and technical journey of Medtronic’s Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) products—ranging from pacemakers to implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices.

You will work inside Cath Labs, Operating Theatres, and in-field environments, supporting clinicians during implant procedures, troubleshooting devices, and assisting with patient follow-ups. You’ll gain in-depth technical training and direct experience with life-saving technologies used across South Africa.

This role is perfect for graduates who are passionate about cardiac care, hands-on medical device work, and in-hospital clinical support.

🩺 A Day in the Life

You will:

  • Provide in-OR and Cath-Lab support during CRM implant procedures.

  • Assist clinicians by offering technical insights and therapy understanding.

  • Support patient follow-ups, performing diagnostics and device checks.

  • Build strong professional relationships with cardiologists, surgeons, nurses, and hospital staff.

  • Become the clinical bridge between Medtronic’s technology and the healthcare professionals who use it.

This experience prepares you for a long-term career in cardiac devices, electrophysiology, or clinical technology consultancy.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

📚 Training & Clinical Competency

  • Complete CRM Level I–IV professional training.

  • Gain hands-on exposure to Brady, ICD, and CRT cases.

  • Participate in supervised in-field experience across hospitals.

🧑‍⚕️ Clinical Case Support

  • Offer technical assistance during:

    • Pacemaker and ICD implants

    • Pre- and post-operative checks

    • MRI compatibility assessments

    • Therapy optimization procedures

  • Provide product details and clinical insights during implant cases.

📈 Field Support & Customer Interaction

  • Attend follow-up clinics and monitor patients’ cardiac devices.

  • Support clinicians with CRM technology adoption.

  • Deliver technical data for product demonstrations.

  • Assist in product setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

🎤 Education & Technical Presentations

  • Support on-site demonstrations and educational events.

  • Assist sales teams with technical information and clinical insights.

  • May deliver structured technical presentations to healthcare professionals.

📦 General & Administrative Support

  • Help with printing/distributing patient device cards.

  • Maintain CRM-related documentation and data logs.

  • Coordinate travel to various clinical sites across Cape Town and surrounding areas.

🎓 Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Health Science in Cardiac Clinical Technology OR

  • National Diploma in Clinical Technology

  • Must be unemployed

  • Must be under the age of 30

  • Must be a South African citizen

  • Fluent in English

  • Willing and able to travel regularly for field support

  • Not previously part of any YES programme
