What You’ll Do: Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly when they enter or exit the canteen area.

• Operate cash registers, scan goods, and ensure correct pricing and transactions.

• Process payments accurately using cash or credit, and issue receipts, refunds, and change.

• Track sales and reconcile cash balances, reporting any discrepancies.

• Assist in food preparation and provide front-of-house support during meal service.

• Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas and ensure excellent hygiene standards.

• Resolve customer complaints professionally and offer helpful product suggestions.

• Promote specials or new products and cross-sell where appropriate.

• Redeem coupons or stamps as per company policy.

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.

• A Customer Service Certificate would be advantageous.

• 2–3 years’ proven experience in a catering or food service environment.

• Knowledge of operating a cash register or POS system.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.

• Friendly, approachable, and able to remain calm under pressure.
