Role Overview

The Shop Assistant / Cashier plays a critical role in maintaining the smooth functioning of in-store operations. This includes delivering efficient service at the point of sale (POS), providing product information, ensuring merchandising standards are met, and contributing to the overall customer experience. The position requires accuracy, professionalism, and the ability to create a welcoming environment that supports Clicks’ vision to be the customer’s first-choice health and beauty retailer.

Key Responsibilities

Point-of-Sale Operations

  • Execute all checkout activities efficiently and accurately.

  • Scan merchandise correctly and process payments securely.

  • Handle cash safely and conduct transactions according to company policy.

  • Action Clicks ClubCard rewards and assist customers with loyalty enquiries.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Act as a brand ambassador by providing friendly, knowledgeable service.

  • Advise customers on promotions and encourage participation in ClubCard.

  • Stay informed on product ranges and promotions to support customer needs.

  • Maintain visibility on the shop floor to assist and guide customers.

Merchandising & Store Standards

  • Maintain visual merchandising and adhere to store display guidelines.

  • Ensure stock is neatly presented and replenished when necessary.

  • Execute general housekeeping to maintain a clean, organised store environment.

  • Support retail operations through stock management awareness and compliance.

Operational Support

  • Uphold Clicks’ values in everyday interactions.

  • Follow procedures, instructions, and company policies at all times.

  • Maintain current knowledge of store processes, promotions, and product categories.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Basic mathematics and numeracy

  • Understanding of retail or FMCG operations

  • Familiarity with stock management principles

  • Knowledge of customer service excellence

Experience
