Job Overview

Tsebo Catering Solutions is seeking a skilled Chef to join its Fedics division in Durban (Kloof). The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals, maintaining strict food safety standards, and ensuring excellent service delivery. This role is ideal for a passionate culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced catering environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present meals according to company standards and client requirements
  • Follow menus, recipes, and special dietary instructions
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and quality (HACCP compliance)
  • Ensure correct portion control and timely meal service
  • Monitor ingredient availability and report shortages
  • Support stock rotation and minimize food waste
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant kitchen environment
  • Work collaboratively with the catering team to deliver excellent service
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely
  • Keep accurate records (temperature logs, production, and cleaning schedules)

Qualifications

Education

  • Grade 12 / Matric (preferred)
  • Culinary or cooking certificate (advantageous)

Experience

  • 2–3 years’ experience as a Chef or Cook in catering or hospitality
  • Experience working with food safety and hygiene standards

Skills

  • Strong food preparation and cooking skills
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety practices
  • Portion control and recipe adherence
  • Stock control and waste management
  • Time management and ability to meet deadlines
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards
